Deer Trail Lodge

At Deer Trail Lodge, located on Eagle Lake, the walleye are fighting like northerns!! The walleye are biting in the mornings and evenings on jigs and minnows in about 7-10 ft of water. Northern pike are being caught all day in about 5-9 ft of water with any type of lure . Musky are biting all day on jigs and minnows in the shallows of 3-6 ft. The small mouth bass are hit and miss but are biting on crank baits in about 8 ft of water. The big fish this week were 24”-27” Walleye!! I talked to Richard and he said that the fish like the live bait better; leeches or minnows as they aren’t really biting on artificial baits. He also said that the best place to fish is in bald spots by the sand grass. You have to really look for these spots because they aren’t very big but once you find one there will be fish there!
